Do I need both local and cloud backup?

Whichever fits your data volume, budget, and privacy requirements — I will lay out the trade-offs rather than push one provider. Existing subscriptions can usually be worked into the design.

Will backups slow my computer down?

They are scheduled around how you work and run incrementally after the first pass, so day-to-day impact is minimal.
